Since we're all about the little guy here, we'll link to this effort to get people to stop calling the San Francisco Giants' stadium SBC Park and instead call it Mays Field. Also, they have free bumper stickers. Hard to go wrong there.
Thanks, Lang--we can't argue with that. For any first-time visitors, here's a brief review:
- What's this all about? Well, it couldn't be simpler--we think Mays Field, in honor of Willie Mays, is a much better name for the Giants' beautiful stadium than SBC Park, and we're encouraging folks to adopt that name.
- What can I do to get involved? For starters, just try out the name: Mays Field. Doesn't that sound better than Ess-Bee-See Park? Now help us spread the word--you can buy Mays Field gear--T-shirts, hats, bags and more--from our online store. (We're not making a dime--there's no markup, and we're charging the bare minimum that Cafe Press will allow.) And you can get free bumper stickers, too--just send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the address in the right hand sidebar.
- What else is happening? We're organizing a party at a local bar--keep checking back for details if you're in the Bay Area. And subscribe to Mays Field Fans, our email group, in the sidebar on the right. (No spam ever, we promise.)
- Uh, who the heck are you? Just a friendly cabal of ordinary folks who love the Giants and who would love to see Willie Mays honored in this way.
